About NMDC - Northern Maine's Regional Planning and Development Organization

Designations

In 1999, NMDC received American Economic Development Organization (AEDO) accreditation from the American Economic Development Council. NMDC is one of 26 AEDOs in the nation, and the first in New England, recognized for professional excellence in administering economic development programs through this program.

NMDC is qualified to administer many types of federal and state economic and community development programs through the following designations.

• Economic Development District by the US Department of Commerce, EDA
  
• Intermediary Lender (USDA Rural Development and US Small Business Administration)
  
• Manufacturing Extension Partnership Field Office (Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership, National Institute of Standards and Technology)
  
• Empowerment Zone (USDA Rural Development)
  
• Small Business Development Center by the US Small Business Administration
  
• Regional Planning Commission
